Episode 4 should be available by May 4th (for Episodes 3, 2 and 1, scroll down the page). We’ve got LOTS of ideas for shows — enough to keep us busy for several years. Here are a few topics we’ve got in the works:
- Quiz Show: Jeff and Dave test each other’s knowledge of basic and advanced rules. Do YOU know the answers? (If this is a success, we may hold LIVE shows a la Jeopardy at tourneys and Cons.)
- ASL Widows - Can’t Route with ‘em, can’t Route without ‘em: We’ll talk to wives/girlfriends (or husbands/boyfriends!) to get a glimpse of what goes on in the lives of those who await our return from war.
- History Lesson: We’ll reveal the real history, operation and use of common — and uncommon — ASL weapons. Will it help your ASL play? Maybe. Wear a flack jacket and helmet for this bit.
- Where in the World is that Rule?: We’ll read a snippet from the Rules and leave it to YOU to tell us where it’s from! Leave your answer in the show Comments section. The first person to answer correctly will win . . . 5 minutes of fame! (Sorry, we can’t afford prizes)
- View from the Front: We’ll report directly from ASL tournaments, where the REAL battles are waged.
- Interviews: We’ve got lots of ideas, but if YOU’d like to be interviewed, or if you know someone that would be an interesting guest, send us an email with your suggestion.
- Listener Mail: Send us some and we’ll read it!
- Basic Training: a segment just for newbies
- Mud Wrestling: Just kidding
- VASL review: We’ve never used it, but we’re going to give it a try and let you know how it goes.
- Club Reports: Send us information about your ASL group or club and we’ll read it on the air.
- Lots, LOTS, more. (we don’t want to spoil all the surprises)
- And, of course, all the usual stuff like Favorite Scenarios (email us with YOUR favorite, including the reasons why), What’s in the Box?, MMP news, tourney announcements and more!

Hurrah! We fixed the audio issues we had with episodes 1 & 2. The embedded player is now working!
Tonight we’re joined in the broadcast foxhole by our pal, Joe Pellam, who talks about his gaming history, his fascinating visits to Iwo Jima while in the Navy, and his love of ASL. A great guy, and a good friend, we’re pleased to have him as our guest.
Do you have a topic you would like to hear discussed on “The 2 Half-Squads”? Do you have an idea for a show segment? Do you know someone that would be a good guest? We’d like to hear from you! Leave us a comment here, or send an email to the2halfsquads at gmail dot com

Undaunted by the mistakes and problems in Episode 1, we plunge ahead for 78 thrill-packed minutes.. This time we talk about the release of the long-awaited “Valor of the Guards”. We wonder about how many ASL players there are in the world. Jeff whips out the “Top Ten” list: “Why You Should Play ASL”. Of course we play “What’s in the Box?” and discuss a favorite scenario. Then Dave reveals a short list of rules that he used to forget and gives a little WW II history lesson.

We’re having some technical difficulties with the audio on this web site. The embedded player is not working. We hope to have it fixed soon. Until then, for best results, click on the “Audio MP3″ label below, or click on the “Download” link to save the file to your disk.

Here we go with our first episode. This is our first experience with podcasting, too. We’ve scraped together some equipment, loaded up some software and popped open a couple of cool beers. We learned a lot and discovered some better ways of doing things, but rather than re-record the show, we’re publishing it as is and you can expect much better production values in future episodes.
