Episode 12
We are especially excited about this episode because we hold our first phone [actually, Skype] interview. And it’s with none other than Keith Dalton from Multiman Publishing. It was really great that Keith could take time out from his busy day to talk with us. While we had to deal with some frustrating technical issues this first time out – including an abrupt end to the conversation — we are very pleased with the result and optimistic about working out the kinks in the near future. No doubt this type of thing will become a pretty regular part of the show. We’ll chat more with Keith, as well as other ASL celebrities, players of note and other interesting guests.
Our tasty talk with Keith starts about 2.5 minutes into the show and runs for about 32 minutes. We then go back to the appetizer course for some listener mail, followed by a surprise entre from some friends in Sweden. There are the usual helpings of chatter and banter, and Dave serves up a fine dessert of History a la Sniper. It’s an ASL smorgasbord. Feast on it!

I see you guys are drinking more Black Sheep Ale - from the same people who brought you your Monty Python Ale from a few episodes ago.
Are they the next Half Squad sponsers?????
As usual, superb - that interview was well worth the wait - lets hope you can finish it off sometime in the future.

Awesome episode guys. I loved the plug for my blog and am reveling in the vast number of hits from your 18 listeners (ha!).
Seriously, I hope you get to continue the interview with Keith, I think it’s super important to us newbs to get some insight into the production issues at MMP. Transparency is a big thing these days.
And I love the idea of Newbie November. In fact I’m getting together a few of my friends in my Eurogaming/RP group and my work friends to play an ASLSK scenario or two soon.

Very entertaining and informative webcasts guys, thanks very much… you are stars now whether you like it or not!
Greetings from a sporadic ASLer in Ireland btw; sporadic as in I give up playing every two years for a year or so and then have to re-learn the whole game.
I particularly enjoyed the section you did on Snipers in one show and I am looking forward to more of those discussions of rules detail and the tactical implementations that you can see from it. Although I will also say I do enjoy all your regular sections, including you guys just goofing off
Suggestions for ASL content: planning an attack, constructing a defense, combined arms, entrenchments, half-tracks and carriers, FTs, all-time favourite scenarios, early war vs late war, PTO, Chapter E, areas where you feel you could improve your game, areas where you feel most people could improve, scenario designer interviews (Pete Shelling or Evan Sherry would be great!)
Suggestions for other content: Heidelberger Premium 1603 Pilsner, Gaffel Kolsch, Asahi Super Dry, Boddington’s Ale, you can see where I’m going with this one…
Keep up the good work and thanks again.

Could someone tell me what this has to do with sign language? You guys spent the whole time talking about fighting with bits of cardboard. Frankly, I found it a bit disturbing. Seriously (in case you thought I was being serious), you guys are a great add to the ASL (Advanced Squad Leader, right?) community and I appreciate your efforts. You are the “click-n-clack tapet brothers” of ASL. Keep up the good work!

Next podcast should include more pronunciation discussions (e.g. cupolas, smorgasborg, etc.). Can’t help with most of those, but I did post this on Gamesquad a few years back to help with Hakkaa Paalle pronunciation:
————— Ok, just returned from Finland and had a long WWII discussion with some of my guests…fascinating. Anyways, the only thing missing from this thread was…how do you pronounce “Hakkaa Paalle”, so I asked- several times to get it through my Koskenkorva brain…the best way I could describe it is by adding the “H” sound to the beginning of a capella (”to sing without instruments, like a piano”) _______________

Will W, Thanks for your support and great feedback. We will add your suggestions to our list of things to do on the show. Marvelous beverage suggestions also.
spwhites, Love the sign language take. Gives me an idea for a comedy intro. Somewhere on gamesquad was an audio of Haaka Paale being pronounced. It went Huh kuh Pah lay. I just listened to it again and realized that my pronunciation has morphed over time. Maybe we will play these on the air. Dave (and Jeff)

enjoyed your latest show. looking forward to listening to the earlier ones. I believe that an attack on a broken unit has to have the possibility to inflict a NMC, not a PTC to DM that unit.

You are correct, we stand corrected. It is a NMC! Thanks, Dave (and Jeff)
