ASL Extra #6
Join us for a great game of scenario A103 MAYHEM IN MANILA. Two excellent and well respected players give us a glimpse of their thought and strategies as Bob Holmstrom’s Japanese try to defend a stone building or two from Bob Miller’s attacking Americans. You need deluxe boards a-d to follow along (or just a good imagination, or go on VASL and look at the boards there). Addendum: Click on the link on Will’s name in the comments section. It is a link to the board set up.

Fun ‘cast. I know it’s more work, and this may not be the best site for it, but it would be great if you could somehow provide photos of the games in progress. I listened to this extra yesterday, and thought it was great. I would have enjoyed seeing some of the action as it unfolded. Of course, the more time you spend posting things to the web, the less time you have to actually play

Too bad you couldn’t play it in VASL then post the files. Easy for making screen shots… and people could watch the replay. But like Buz said…. don’t want to distract you from actual playing.
The more you guys ask about this the more we are insanely considering it. No promises.

It is funny, that I don’t have the boards. I don’t know a thing about how the Japanese play. Something was said like they don’t have a broken side. What is up with that? Well anyways, my point is that I enjoy listening and gaining little tidbits about the rules even though I have no idea what is going on.
Dan, We are glad you can get something out of it! Sounds like we need an episode featuring the Japanese!

You can use the board image at aslsceanrioarchive.com to follow along, but a full blown VASL replay would be really cool!
(Link for the board image may appear above if I’m lucky!)

I enjoyed Bob playing Bob. the only way to top this would be to have Dave play Dave with Dave doing commentary. Keep up the good work.

Unfortunately, the AA guns should not have set up in roof locations per C2.7. When you combine C2.7 with Ordnance note D and the SSR, you find that the Type 96 Twin cannot set up in any building location.
The Americans have a ton of smoke making capability: both vehicles can fire Smoke, the tank has a sM, infantry have a smoke exponent of 3 and the ‘45 BAZs can fire WP.
